This page is dedicated to all of our girls! We love them all so I decided to tell a little about how each one came to our farm to live and show them off a bit. I also love having an array of color in our herd as they each have their own look that is as different as their personalities.
Connie May
She was purchased by my oldest son from a local polled hereford breeder when she was a yearling. She is now 2 and expecting her first calf this summer. She is a beauty and our friendliest cow on the farm.
Trissy
Trissy hold a special place in our hearts as she was our first cow and my son's bottle calf for 4H. He earned her by mowing and weed eating for an entire summer for a Maine Anjou breeder. She has given birth to 4 beautiful calves, one of which is Mabel.
Maria
Maria was purchased from the same hereford breeder as Connie May. She is darker in color, which I love. She is also a little snotty and would prefer to not be close to us. She is getting better, though and will have her first calf very soon!
Big Red
Big Red was a bottle calf of my middle son. She is an angus cross and a gentle giant! She is built like a tank and finally expecting her first calf after a failed attempt at AI for last year.
Snowflake
Snowflake is a charolais cross that was purchased just after weaning from quite a ways away. She is not friendly, but we can at least walk passed her now without her bolting. She will get bred this year for a calf next year. I have always wanted a white cow.
Mabel
She is Trissy's first calf in 2010. She is a wonderful cow and mother. She did not get bred for last year with the AI attempt but is due very soon this year. She loves to be petted by us, especially when she is close to calving.
Tiny
Tiny is Mabel's first calf and is still a little stand-offish to us. She will have a calf this year, also. It will be her first.
Another photo of Trissy. Love her!
Connie May -she loves her photo ops!
This is Connie May and Tiny hangin out in the barnyard.
All our cows have their own story of how they came to our farm, but it really comes down to "I loved them" so they were purchased or born here and retained.
